Candidate: campaign sign "castrated"

By The Associated Press

HERNANDO — A candidate for a new judicial seat in DeSoto County says a vandal took a box-cutter to one of his big campaign signs and castrated his picture.

Stan Little is in a circuit court runoff. He tells The Commercial Appeal that the 4-by-8-foot sign showed a full-length photograph. In his words, “the lower half of me was castrated with the box cutter.”

Kenneth Michael Perryman was arrested Sept. 18 on a misdemeanor charge of malicious mischief to the sign. He missed a court date Thursday; Justice Court Judge Larry Vaughn issued a bench warrant for his arrest.

Perryman could not be reached Saturday; his home phone has been disconnected.

Runoff opponent Gerald Chatham says his volunteers have been told not to touch other candidates’ signs.

They’re in a Nov. 23 runoff.
