Candidate leaves Alcorn tax collector race

CORINTH – First District Supervisor Keith Fields has announced his withdrawal as a candidate for Alcorn County tax collector.
He was one of nine candidates for the office after incumbent Greg Younger announced his retirement to seek the office of chancery clerk.
Fields was first elected in a special election in November 2006 to fill the office after his father, longtime 1st District Supervisor Lamar Fields, died. He was elected to a full term in 2007.
The remaining candidates for tax collector include Bobby Burns, R; Zane Elliott, D; Ronnie Inman, D; Janice Knighton, D; Tony Mask, D; Ken Nash, D; Larry Ross, D; and Milton Sandy, independent.
