FALKNER – The Falkner branch of CB&S Bank, which opened in 2001 in the building formerly occupied by The Bank of Falkner, closed for the last time at 4:30 p.m. Monday.
Customers whose accounts at the Falkner branch can be served from any of the banking system’s 44 offices in Mississippi, Alabama and Tennessee. Locally there are branches in Walnut and Ripley, and two in Corinth.
Officials said there would be no interruption of service, and said customers had been notified of the change long beforehand.
The Falkner branch employed three people; all will be absorbed into the Walnut and Ripley branches.
The bank will donate the building to the Town of Falkner.
The decision to close the branch was the best use of available resources, according to Dennis Upchurch, who is President and CEO of CB&S Bank, which is headquartered in Russellville, Ala.
