HOULKA – The calendar may still say April, but students at Houlka Attendance Center celebrated May Day last Friday anyway.
The annual event is organized by Parent Liason, Temeka Shepherd, as a reward for students after nearly completing an academic year. Parents and community members are invited to join the fun and spend some time with the students, staff and administration.
Students purchase tickets to play games, enjoy inflatable jumpers and slides, have their faces painted and enjoy snacks and drinks. The money raised at the fun day goes back into the school to support student activities.
Members of Frontline and Free participate and take shifts to man games and concessions.
