Cellphone policy revised by Tupelo school board

By Michaela Gibson Morris/NEMS Daily Journal

Under the revised school board policy, cellphones may be brought into Tupelo schools, but they may not be seen, heard or used inside school buildings unless students are directed to use the phones for a classroom exercise.
On the first offense, the phone will be turned over to a parent. On a second offense, the phone will be taken and returned at the end of the semester.
The district will not be responsible for the phones. If they are stolen, it will be the parents’ responsibility to file a police report.
