TUPELO – Criminal charges have been filed against Wayne Hight in Prentiss County Circuit Court in connection with allegations of misuse of pre-need burial funds at Oaklawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Booneville.

Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann held a press conference in Tupelo Thursday to announce the grand jury indictments.

Hight, who also owns Forrest Memorial Park in Corinth, was indicted on two counts by the Prentiss County grand jury, and he has made $10,000 bond in the case.

The secretary of state also has filed a lawsuit to recover about $500,000 of funds to place in the trust accounts of both cemeteries to support contracts that have been purchased and to care for the cemeteries.

The investigation continues, particularly with reference to the Corinth cemetery.
