Cemetery theft suspects remain in jail

djournal-crime-news3CORINTH – Three suspects remained in jail Monday in Alcorn County charged with thefts of items from area cemeteries.

Kevin Eugene Gunn, 51, or Wenasoga Road, Corinth; Angela Renee Gunn, 35, of Wenasoga Road, Corinth; and Theresa Gail Robertson, 57, of Princess Ann Drive, Corinth, were arrested last week and charged with destroying public property, said Investigator Reggie Anderson.

Anderson and Investigator Health Thomas executed a search warrant at a location where the three had rented retail space to open a florist business, where they found thousands of dollars of items, including floral arrangements, ceramic angels, bows, crosses and more.

Private citizens had reported missing items from cemeteries in various Alcorn County communities over several months, including Corinth, Farmington and Rienzi, Anderson said, and it was their reports that led to the suspects.

Bond has been set at $15,000 each, and the case remains under investigation.

It takes somebody real special to rob from a cemetery. Fine upstanding citizens, one and all.
