Chick-fil-A boosts elderly

TUPELO – The Chick-fil-A in Thompson Square is doing a Golden Angel Tree again this year. The angels are elderly people in the community who are shut-ins or are in nursing homes or hospices.
To participate, go to the restaurant and select an angel. Each angel has a wishlist from the elderly person. Sponsors who return to the restaurant by Dec. 12 with at least some of the gifts on the wishlist will get a coupon for a free chicken sandwich.
Kendall Walters, the unit’s marketing director, said residents usually adopt the angels quickly, but that hasn’t happened this year. There are 200 names left on the tree. The deadline is Dec. 12, but Walters said it may have to be extended to encourage more participation.
