Chickasaw creek cleaning project slated to begin

HOUSTON – The Chickasaw County Board of Supervisors has been heavily involved in cleanup projects relating to last year’s tornados and recently received notice of assistance.
Debbie Carnathan of the National Conservation Resource Service said $94,000 is available to help clean up sections of Houlka Creek that sustained damage.
Funds from the Federal Stafford Act have been allocated to help remove debris from out-of-bank, top-of-channel areas. At least 27 property owners in the county qualify.
Carnathan and the Board of Supervisors agreed to work together to contact the property owners for the easements, which are due April 10.
