VICKSBURG — Mississippi Attorney General Jim Hood says his office has dropped charges of child sexual abuse against suspended state trooper Dane Davenport.
Hood says the alleged victims asked for dismissal of the charges, which had been pending more than three years.
The 48-year-old Davenport told The Vicksburg Post on Thursday that he now feels “blessed.” He had been put on unpaid administrative leave when he was indicted in Warren County in January 2008.
His first Warren County trial in September 2008 had a deadlocked jury.
Davenport was acquitted in 2009 on a related molestation charge in Oktibbeha County.
A Warren County jury acquitted Davenport last March of all sexual battery charges and one of the fondling charges.
