Choctaw chief Phyliss Anderson off to fast start

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — The Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians’ new chief is also the face for the tribe’s new casino advertising campaign: “Vegas With Sweet Tea.”

Phyliss Anderson tells The Clarion-Ledger (http://on.thec-l.com/yDUM6t) that she was hesitant because she’s never done an ad before. She had to carve out time to shoot amid busy budget negotiations.

Anderson says it’s too early to tell whether the ads are bringing new business, but she said she is getting recognized by more people.

The ad campaign is part of her work to remake the tribe’s image. In the months before Anderson took office, the FBI raided the tribe’s casino and Moody’s Investors Service downgraded $200 million in casino bonds to junk status.
