THORN – Law enforcement is still investigating the cause of a fire that destroyed Friendship Baptist Church on Jan. 5.
The church building, on County Road 192, was home of a 100-year-old congregation that now must figure out how to rebuild and celebrate a centennial.
Chickasaw County investigator James Myers said earlier in the week the cause of the fire is still under investigation, but so far has been ruled accidental.
News reports soon after the fire said suspicion was focused on an electrical closet near or where the fire started. Volunteers from Houston, Thorn, Rhodes Chapel and Vardaman fire departments all responded to the call.
