CITY HOPES TO FILL OPEN POLICE OFFICER POSITION
SHERMAN – The Sherman Board of Aldermen will be reviewing applications for a full-time police officer at its March 5 meeting, said Sherman Mayor Terry Wood.
In the meantime, the town is not without police protection, Wood said. Currently the city has two part-time police officers and two reserve police officers rotating police duties.
The city’s last full-time officer resigned his position at the beginning of the year, he said.
Wood said the city has received more applications than expected for the full-time police officer’s post and that all applications received prior to the first March meeting will be considered at that meeting, though the aldermen are not promising to choose an officer from only those applicants.
The job search could go on longer, Wood said.
“We are not hurting as far a police protection goes so we can take the time to find just what we want,” he said.
