RIENZI — The town’s Civil War battle re-enactment and spring festival continues Saturday and Sunday.

Mayor Walter Williams tells The Daily Corinthian ( ) that it’s the first time the town has combined the Civil War commemoration with its annual spring festival.

Battle re-enactments are set for 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The festival also runs both days.

The event has been growing in popularity, Williams said, and as many as 90 Civil War re-enactors are expected to participate this year.

The reenactment is under the direction of the 3rd Tennessee Cavalry and 48th Tennessee Infantry organizations, but other re-enactors are welcome.

“It is good for the town and gives the people something to do,” Williams says.
