CLARKSDALE — Clarksdale fire chief Mike Robinson will retire May 1 after 33 years with department.

Robinson has been fire chief since 2006. He notified city officials of his decision last week. The city council said a search for a successor will begin immediately.

Robinson joined the fire department in 1978. Before becoming chief, Robinson was the department’s training officer and an arson investigator.

Robinson said he had no immediate plans after retirement. He said he and his wife may do some traveling.
