IUKA – Students at Tishomingo County High School were released early today after a gas main break happened about 9:30 a.m.
An immediate evacuation of the school sent students to the football field, and they were dismissed from campus at 11:30 a.m., said Superintendent Ben McClung.
Metrocast Cable was performing some contract work at the school when workers hit a gas line, he said.
Tests will be performed at the school tonight to assure the facility is completely safe before reopening for the regular schedule Thursday morning.
