Clay County approves revised jail agreement

By The Associated Press

WEST POINT — In a new agreement for the housing of city inmates, West Point would pay Clay County $67,482 a year, the salaries including benefits for two county jailers.

The Daily Times Leader reports that the city also would pay a $15 booking fee per city inmate and pay $3.20 per inmate meal.

The pact allows both the city and county 30 days to submit a written termination notice.

Clay County supervisors have approved the pact. It now goes to the West Point Board of Aldermen.

West Point Chief Administrative Officer Randy Jones says although the city would be paying the salaries of two jailers, all jailers work for the county jail.
