JACKSON — The Mississippi Supreme Court has agreed to hear an appeal from Vanessa Decker, who is seeking to overturn her 2008 conviction for exploiting her own mother.
Last September, the state Court of Appeals upheld Decker’s four-year suspended sentence and four years’ probation. The Supreme Court agreed Thursday to hear the appeal.
Decker was convicted in Clay County of felony exploitation of a vulnerable adult for taking $4,120 from her mother’s bank account between November 2005 and April 2007.
Decker has argued the law under which she was convicted was vague.
