WEST POINT — Clay County drug court officials will apply for a grant to help it offer more programs to drug and alcohol offenders.
The Daily Times Leader reports that the board of supervisors gave the drug court approval to seek the grant from the U.S. Department of Justice through the state.
Cindy Tidwell, treatment specialist for drug court, says the grant could be used to buy a substance abuse monitoring system that drug court participants may be required to be under throughout their treatment.
The drug court also could have its own transportation service so staff could monitor participants out working in the city or county to pay off fines to make sure they are doing the work.
Currently there are 37 clients being served through Clay County Drug Court.
