When the roll-call begins this morning, Mississippi’s Republican senators will be among the “nayes” on health care reform.
Sens. Thad Cochran and Roger Wicker both issued statements before the vote.
“While we all agree that the quality of health care is important,” Cochran said in an e-mailed statement, “questions arise as to how these standards will be developed, how they will ultimately be used by the federal government and the impact they will have on coverage and treatment options.”
On his Web site earlier this week, Wicker said, “Higher taxes, more spending, and cuts to Medicare are not the reforms Americans want. This bill is a colossal mistake. It should be scrapped so that we can start over and get this right.”
