JACKSON — A Lowndes County man will remain in prison after the state Court of Appeals on Tuesday denied his claims a judge was wrong to deny him a mental examination.
Bruce Bradley Sr. of Columbus was convicted in 2010 of aggravated assault after he was accused of punching another man in the face at the 2009 Roast and Boast in Columbus.
Authorities say Bradley accused the other man of taking a beer out of his cooler and punched him while holding a beer. The other man suffered cuts and fractures to the face.
He claimed the judge should have granted a mental evaluation after his attorney filed papers with the court saying Bradley was not able to understand the proceedings or help with his defense.
