CORINTH – Corinth’s Boys & Girls Club is again seeking women who make significant contributions to the community as nominees for Phenomenal Woman of the Year.
Nomination forms may be picked up at the club and must be submitted by Friday, with this year’s winner to be honored in May at the second annual Phenomenal Women Award Gala, said Unit Director Christy Grice.
Although only one person will be selected as Phenomenal Woman of the Year, 12 women will be selected to serve as a phenomenal woman for each month through January 2014, and will present a program at the club to teach club members important life lessons.
“We’re looking for women who inspire, educate and empower other women and young girls to go beyond mediocrity and create excellence in their lives,” Grice said. “The award celebrates women who have made outstanding contributions to the community.”
The keynote speaker for the May gala is a young woman who already exemplifies the qualities of leadership and service other young people should strive for, Grice said.
Stephanie Burkholder is an honors student at the University of Mississippi and will graduate in May with a Bachelor’s degree in English Education. She has volunteered with the Boys & Girls Club of America for four years and directed the first Boys & Girls Club Pageant in Oxford.
“Stephanie truly knows what it take to serve others with a smile,” Grice said.
