Coca-Cola employee’s theft plan flattens
CORINTH – A New Albany man’s plan to scam his employer, Northeast Mississippi Coca-Cola Bottling, turned flat Monday when he was arrested and charged with embezzlement.
Jerry M. Clifton, 23, of Roberts Drive in New Albany, is charged with embezzling nearly $10,000 from the company for which he drove a delivery truck.
“He would make a delivery to his customers, and after they would pay him, he would give them a receipt,” said Corinth Police Chief Ned Cregeen. “Then he would void that receipt out, allegedly keep the money and turn in a voided receipt.”
Capt. Ralph Dance investigated the case. Clifton was released on $4,000 bond.
