Corinth man charged with DUI death in pedestrian fatality

CORINTH – Bond has been set at $100,000 for a man charged with DUI death in connection with a Thursday morning pedestrian fatality in Alcorn County.
John D. Calvery, 85, of 98 C.R. 180, Corinth, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident near his home. Witnesses said Calvery was picking up trash along the road.
Charged was Robert Shane Parker, 38, of C.R. 182, Corinth, who was allegedly driving the 1997 Jeep Cherokee that struck Calvery.
Parker remained in Alcorn County jail Friday. The investigation continues, lead by Sheriff’s Investigator Heath Thomas.
