CORINTH – No arrest had been made Friday in connection with the shooting death of Glen man whose bullet-riddled body was found Thursday off an Alcorn County road.
The slightly decomposed body of James Bryant Russell, 39, of Glen was found just before 1 p.m. Thursday near County Road 376 between Glen and Jacinto in the Liberty Hill community in the southern part of the county. He had been shot at least five times with a .45 caliber handgun.
Sheriff Jimmy Taylor said Russell had been dead for several days before his body was found.
Russell was last seen March 16 heading to work.
Later that day, Russell’s girlfriend went looking for him and found his 1986 maroon GMC pickup parked on the Wal-Mart Supercenter lot at the intersection of Harper Road and U.S. Highway 72. The truck was unlocked, the keys were in the ignition, and an assortment of tools were left uncovered in the back of the truck.
Taylor is asking that anyone with possible information on the incident call the sheriff’s department at 286-5521.
