CORINTH – During a special-called meeting Friday to address several items of business the Corinth Board of Aldermen voted to award the demolition contract for the Wurlitzer property to the lowest bidder.

Century Construction of Tupelo was approved for the project based on a bid of $58,500.

Thursday’s bid opening included eight widely varying bids, but Dave Huwe, city planning and development director, said he felt confident that Century Construction, which is experienced in construction and demolition, could complete the project to the city’s satisfaction.

Once work begins the project is expected to take 180 days, Huwe said.
