Corinth receives $45,000 victims assistance grant

CORINTH – A $45,000 grant awarded to the Corinth Police Department will help victims of violent crimes in the city.
Police Chief David Lancaster told the city board at its regular Tuesday meeting that the grant, which will be matched by $15,000 from the city, will enable the department to hire a victims assistance staff member.
The victim assistant will accompany crime victims to court and provide other types of assistance, the chief said.
Since the grant must be executed before the next city board meeting, a vote was approved to accept the grant, pending approval by the police chief and the city clerk.
