CORINTH – Attorneys interested in representing the Corinth School District have until noon on May 23 to submit letters of interest and resumes to the district administrative office.

The school board at its regular meeting on Monday agreed on a process and schedule for selecting someone for the position.

A newspaper advertisement and posting for the position on the school district’s website will include a preference for someone with a knowledge of school law, or someone willing to learn the field in depth, and three to five years of experience working as an attorney.

The letter of interest also should include the candidate’s fees and desire to serve.

Board members will review the resumes on May 27, then schedule interviews.

The position became vacant upon the death of longtime Corinth attorney Jimmy Price in February. Price served as school board attorney for Alcorn County and the Corinth school districts, and also was a founding member of the modern-day state Board of Education, where he served from 1984 to 1992.
