CORINTH – The victim in a Thursday afternoon shooting at a Corinth apartment has been identified as Jimmy Daniel Morgan, 32, or Corinth.

Detective Capt. Ralph Dance said the shooter was Lamon West, 19, of 1002 White Street, Corinth.

The case remains under investigation, but Dance said no charges have been filed and it is unclear if any charges will be filed. Both the victim and the shooter lived in Combs Court Apartments.

“A witness in the house said Morgan came to the house to sell a CD player,” Dance said.

Neither person in the house wanted to buy the CD player, but Morgan was insistent and spoke aggressively.

West went and got a rifle and told Morgan to leave the house, but Morgan challenged West to shoot and charged toward him, Dance said.

“West fired several rounds from a .22-caliber rifle, then went to another residence, called police and waited for police to arrive,” Dance said.

Morgan’s body has been taken to Jackson for autopsy.
