Corinth woman dies in morning accident

CORINTH – A Corinth woman died early Thursday morning when a car in which she was a passenger struck a city of Corinth truck.
Misty Joy Lipe, 31, of Corinth was pronounced dead at the scene by Alcorn County Coroner Dan Leeth.
Driver William Lipe Jr., 33, was airlifted from the scene of the crash to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, where he was discharged Friday morning, a hospital spokesman said.
The collision happened in the westbound lane of Proper Street, east of the Pinecrest Road intersection, according to reports. The car in which the Lipes were riding struck the back of a city brush collection truck that was stopped at the side of the road while two workers gathered limbs and debris from the roadside.
A Corinth Police Department accident reconstruction team was sent to the scene, and the accident remains under investigation.
