Corinth’s aldermen approve rise in fines

Alcorn StockCORINTH – Municipal fines in Corinth will increase Oct. 1, after the Board of Aldermen approved new rates presented Tuesday by Municipal Clerk Zane Elliott.

The schedule of fines has been increased by about 4 percent overall, Elliott said, which applies to a number of items on the schedule of fines.

Elliott said he conducted an unofficial survey of area municipalities including similar cities of Corinth’s size and found Corinth’s were the lowest in many categories.

The municipal assessment rises from $25 to $40, which applies to all fines.

A new fine that will be added to traffic fines is a $10 technology fee that will be collected by the Mississippi Highway Patrol for equipment upgrades.
