TUPELO – Tupelo Ward 4 Councilwoman Nettie Davis turned in her campaign finance report weeks ago, contrary to information provided this week by the city clerk’s office.
Davis, a democrat, who won a primary election against two opponents in May, completed her final campaign finance report May 14.
The Daily Journal reported in a story Friday that Davis hadn’t turned in campaign finance reports showing she would no longer accept contributions, make campaign expenditures and has no campaign debt.
Reporting $730 in contributions for the period of April 28 through May 25, Davis also had $600 in expenses and $303 in cash left in her campaign.
While no monetary penalty exists for municipal candidates who do not turn in campaign finance reports, winners of the general election cannot take office until the reports are completed.
Davis faces no general election opponent.
