WATERLOO, Ala. — Crews have recovered the body of a man who witnesses said drown while swimming near the small Alabama town of Waterloo, authorities said.
Authorities say the body of David Lee “Tony” Ticer, who was living in Waterloo, was recovered Tuesday. The Florence Times Daily reports the body was found near the mouth of Panther Creek in about 20 feet of water.
Emergency personnel have said four people were in a boat Sunday and went swimming in Panther Creek, a tributary of the Tennessee River. Lauderdale County Emergency Management Authority Director George Grabryan said three of them made it back to the boat but the fourth didn’t.
George Grabryan, director of the Lauderdale County Emergency Management Agency, said agencies from Colbert County, Mississippi, Tennessee and the city of Florence assisted in the search.
