GREENVILLE — Washington County experienced spikes in burglaries, larcenies and homicides last year.
According to 2010 major crime statistics released by the sheriff’s department, burglaries shot up from 156 in 2009 to 183 last year.
Sheriff Milton Gaston Sr. tells the Delta Democrat Times that larceny went from 318 in 2009 to 363 in 2010. It marked the fourth straight year that the numbers have increased.
The department worked two homicides in 2010, an increase of one from 2009. In 2008, the department didn’t work any homicides.
Gaston said deputies are working hard at trying to solve these crimes.
