CORINTH – The Crossroads Arena has named a new manager to help make the facility a leading entertainment venue in the region.
Kathryn Dilworth, who has been executive director of Corinth’s Crossroads Museum since last summer, will assume her new duties at the Arena on Aug. 22.
Dilworth brings to the job an expansive background in event planning, management, fundraising and sales.
Specifically, Dilworth said her career path has given her the opportunity to work in many different industries and gain experience in a wide variety of events and venues, managing everything from corporate conferences, festivals and radio and television specials.
“The board is excited about having her in this position where she can bring expertise from her broad events background,” Arena Board President Bill Strickland said. “We are confident that she will do an outstanding job for Corinth and Alcorn County in this position.”
Dilworth’s appointment comes at a critical time for the Arena.
Since the departure of the previous manager in August 2009, another staff member has been responsible for spearheading event planning with day-to-day support of board members.
The recent departure of that staff member has imposed further ongoing management and operations responsibilities on the board.
The Arena is in the midst of a budget crisis that requires strong leadership, Arena board member Alva Dalton said during recent budget presentations to the Corinth city board and Alcorn County board.
“As someone who has worked outside the area and has observed many venues over the years, I see so much potential for the Crossroads Arena to do something really fantastic,” Dilworth said.
