TUPELO – A curfew is again in effect for tonight, but for a slightly smaller area.
As it’s done since Monday, the city has instituted an 8 p.m. curfew, which will be lifted at 6 a.m. Friday. The areas inside the red boundaries on the map at right are under the curfew.
No longer under curfew is the business district around the Mall at Barnes Crossing. The mall and other businesses in the North Gloster Street area reopened Thursday as power was restored.
The residential area between Barnes Road and McCullough Boulevard has also been removed from the curfew zone.
The areas hardest hit by Monday’s category EF3 tornado remain under the curfew. The tornado caused extensive damage, destroying several homes and downing trees and power lines.
