TUPELO – Some of Tupelo’s youngest residents had a special gift for some of its most mature citizens on Wednesday.

Wildwood Daycare collected Christmas gifts from the parents of its children for the residents who live in one of Traceway Retirement Community’s Green Houses. On Wednesday, a team of staff and children from the center visited the Franks House Green House and delivered a package of presents for each of its 10 residents.

“I think it is a very wonderful idea for the kids to meet with us older adults and learn something from each other,” said resident Nell Krueger.

Wildwood owner Hope Hilliard said she had the project was a good way for the children to think about others and learn the value of sharing.

“Everyone focuses on children at Christmas, and we forget about older people,” she said.
