Lee County will kick off December with a week of Christmas parades before the Dec. 10 Reed’s Tupelo Christmas Parade.
Nettleton will begin the holidays Dec. 2 at 7 p.m. with its parade, starting at Nettleton High School and ending just past City Hall. Registration is $10, and cash prizes will be awarded for first- through third-place floats. Call (662) 963-2605 or go to NettletonMS.us to register by Nov. 20.
Baldwyn and Verona each will host a parade Dec. 5 at 6 p.m.
Baldwyn’s registration is $20 for commercial participants and $10 for noncommercial. Contact City Hall by Nov. 30 to participate. The route is not yet determined.
Verona’s parade will begin at Verona Elementary School and go west on 10th Street, turn south on Raymond Avenue, turn east on Main Street and then go back up College Street to the school. The registration deadline is Dec. 3, and the entry fee is $10.
Sherman will host an afternoon parade Dec. 7, beginning at 2 p.m. at the old Barclay building on 6th Avenue.
People are encouraged to register at City Hall a week before, but participants can enter until the day of the parade. The parade will go up Sixth Avenue to Main Street, turn onto Third Avenue and end at the mayor’s office.
Guntown’s parade will begin at 6 p.m. on Main Street and travel Main Street and Highway 145 before returning to Mill Street.
Guntown parade participants must register by Nov. 25, and cash prizes will be awarded to the top three floats and top three bands. Anyone interested can call Rosland Hopkins at (662) 322-2562.
Saltillo will host its parade at 6 p.m. Dec. 9. The parade was previously scheduled for Dec. 6 but has been moved due to Lee County School testing. The parade will travel from First Baptist Church Saltillo, through downtown and end near Saltillo City Hall. Registration is free, and the deadline to sign up is Nov. 22.
The Shannon Christmas parade will begin at 7 p.m. at the north end of Shannon High School. The route will take participants down Shannon Avenue where they will turn on North Street and end at the Shannon Police Department.
