OXFORD – Two leading Democratic candidates for governor will meet in a debate at the University of Mississippi on Wednesday.
Hattiesburg Mayor Johnny DuPree and Clarksdale lawyer-businessman Bill Luckett will appear at 6 p.m. in the auditorium of the Overby Center for Southern Journalism and Politics on the Ole Miss campus. The 90-minute event is free and open to the public.
The candidates will be questioned by a panel of Mississippi journalists and moderated by Overby fellow Curtis Wilkie.
Attempts have been unsuccessful thus far to arrange a debate at the Overby Center among leading Republican candidates for governor and lieutenant governor.
