DEPUTIES FIND SATANIC MATERIALS DURING RAID AT TUPELO APARTMENT
A painted-cow skull, devil-worshipping playing cards, satanic books and other materials were found when Lee County sheriff’s deputies raided an Ida Street apartment earlier this week.
The raid stemmed from a tip from a mother who told authorities about her son’s drug use and his alleged attempt to sell drugs to his sister.
The information led authorities to a Tupelo apartment complex where four people were staying. Authorities say the group were practicing alternative religious practices.
A search of the apartment turned up the satanic material along with a half ounce of marijuana, a .380-caliber handgun, digital scales and drug paraphernalia. Sheriff Harold Ray Presley said those at the apartment told authorities they were involved in alternative religious practices and stated that they used drugs during their religious ceremonies.
Christopher Barkley, 18, Route 3, Tupelo, was charged with possession of LSD and has been released under a $1,000 bond.
Also arrested were Steve Hailey, 22, Michael Abner, 18, and Meagan Wag, 20, all of 1321 Ida St., and a 16-year-old. Hailey, Abner and the 16-year-old were each charged with possession of crystal methamphetamine with intent to distribute. Wag was charged with conspiracy to transfer LSD. All three were in the county jail and the teen-ager was being held in the Lee County Detention Center.
