TUPELO – Lee County’s sheriff’s deputies are looking for a two men suspected in the shooting and armed robbery of a convenience store Monday night.
Sheriff Jim Johnson said the men reportedly entered the Stop One Deli and Grocery on County Road 940 on the Lee-Pontotoc County line at about 9:30 p.m., shot the clerk in the leg and took an undetermined amount of money. The clerk was taken to the North Mississippi Medical Center, treated for non life-threatening injuries and released.
One witness was in the store at the time of the robbery. According to Johnson, the suspects were two black males about 6 feet tall. One was wearing a ski mask and the other a blue bandanna over his face. Both men fled on foot but Johnson said it’s possible they got in a vehicle not far from the store. He said it’s a possible a third person could have been driving the vehicle.
Investigators are reviewing surveillance footage from the store.
