RIPLEY – Tippah County is offering a free training session for volunteer firefighters from area counties at 6 p.m. Tuesday for those who wish to be certified to install smoke detectors.
Firefighters throughout Tippah County will be installing hundreds of free smoke detectors in homes of the elderly and low-income residents, which requires specific training for certification, said Tippah County Fire Coordinator Randy Stewart.
The required training is being offered by Leigh Mullins of the state fire marshal’s office at the Tippah County Fairgrounds. Stewart already has received about 300 detectors that are ready to be installed in Tippah County.
