OXFORD – The 18th annual Double Decker Arts Festival will offer some 15 hours of music, neighborhood runs, food, children’s activities and a Squareful of arts and crafts.
The two-day festival begins April 26 with an afternoon of arts demonstrations and tours of studios capped by a 6 p.m. performance of Thacker Mountain Radio.
Later on Friday, local favorites Blue Mountain will join the Eric Deaton Trio for Blue Mountain’s final concert.
Music on Saturday, April 27, will start at 10 a.m. with the University of Mississippi Steel Drum Band and be capped at Drive By Truckers at 8:30 p.m. Other scheduled acts in the single-stage lineup include Chimney Choir, Shannon McNally, The Stooges Brass Band, Kopecky Family Band, Roddy Walston and the Business, and Lee Fields and the Expressions.
Food writer John T. Edge and restaurateur John Currence helped create new guidelines to emphasize local food traditions.
Double Decker’s children’s activities, themed “Out of This World,” will be organized by Ole Miss hospitality management students.
Tupelo artist and teacher Thomas Grosskopf created this year’s Double Decker poster. Donations to the Yoknapatawpha Arts Council between now and the festival’s end will entitle donors to a chance to win the original.
Mississippi-owned C Spire Wireless is the festival’s major sponsor.
