HOUSTON – The annual beauty review at Houston High School has taken on a new twist with a showbiz theme and some show-stopping musical numbers to boot.
The program will feature a beauty pageant for girls in sixth through eighth grade and one for the high school ages. While the pageant is always popular, the musical numbers in between will keep the crowd entertained throughout the show.
Houston Community Theatre, following a two year hiatus, is back in action and sponsoring the pageant with musical dance performances. Each contestant will participate in the entertainment, beginning with a Dreamgirls opening number. There will be performances by the sixth grade contestants and seventh and eighth grade will take the stage together. Ninth and tenth grade contestants will perform and the junior and senior girls will also entertain.
There will be a couples dance and a group dance featuring male volunteers from the school.
Following judging and awards, the show will close with a Dreamgirls finale.
Tickets will be available to the public at Houston High School beginning April 16 at a cost of $6 each. All seats are reserved and this will be the first HCT production in the newly renovated high school auditorium. The show begins at 7 p.m. on April 24.
