Dream Home winner says he will sell it

TUPELO – Joe Jones was as surprised as anyone to win the St. Jude Dream Home.
Jones, 55, of Dumas, has been buying tickets and contributing to St. Jude Children’s Hospital for years.
He finally won the Dream Home, located in the Fairpark District of Tupelo, on Sunday. The winner was announced on WTVA Sunday afternoon.
“My cousin called me, because I don’t pick up Channel 9,” he said Monday during visit to the house. “It took a while for it to soak in.”
He’s had a host of people lined up to congratulate him.
“It’s been call after call since then,” he said.
The four-bedroom house covers more than 4,000 square feet and has 4.5 bathrooms and a two-car garage.
Jones, who’s retired from the postal service, said the house is beautiful, but despite the size, he’s afraid it won’t hold all of his animals.
“I’ve got three dogs and eight horses,” he said. “I don’t think it would hold all of them.”
He’s planning to sell the house and remain in Dumas, but he’s thankful for his win.
“It was truly a blessing from the Lord that I received this,” Jones said, “so I give him the credit.”
