Driver's license office in Grenada closed

By The Associated Press

GRENADA — The Mississippi Department of Public Safety has closed its driver’s license station in Grenada.

State officials tell WTVA TV the decision was based on budget cuts and the condition of the current building.

Officials say the facility was built in the 1940’s and has structural problems, including a leaky roof.

The state is working with Grenada County supervisors to find another possible location to reopen the facility.

For now, officials say residents will need to use offices in Greenwood and Batesville.
