BOONEVILLE – Three people are facing felony drug charges, with two accused of bringing drugs into the jail.
Charles Thompson Jr., 22, of County Road 3020, Booneville, was stopped at a safety checkpoint Sunday night and arrested on several misdemeanor traffic offenses. Following his arrest, deputies found methamphetamine on him. When he was searched at the jail, officers found even more drugs, leading to a second, more serious charge.
He was charged with felony possession of methamphetamine and possession of a controlled substance in a correctional facility. Bond has not been set.
Ashley Franks, 29, of New Site, was arrested March 15 on misdemeanor traffic offenses. During a search at the jail, officers found methamphetamine in her bra, leading to a charge of possession of a controlled substance in a correctional facility. Her total bond was set at $9,500.
The same night, deputies spotted two vehicles parked on the back side of the Piney Grove Cemetery on County Road 1151. When they investigated, they found Alex Kane Lambert, 18, with more than an ounce of marijuana. He was charged with felony possession of marijuana. Bond was set at $7,500.
