JACKSON – The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks is making it easier this season to find ducks. Using aerial and ground surveys, the MDWFP is producing detailed information throughout waterfowl season.

All information can be found on the MDWFP Web site,

Aerial surveys will be updated four times during the season, showing detailed information on the concentration of waterfowl populations in the Mississippi Delta. The map shows the areas of the Delta region where concentration of mallards and other waterfowl were recorded.

The MDWFP is also producing weekly updates on Wildlife Management Areas and private lands. These updates give detailed information on success rates for all regions of the Delta.

Also on the Web site is the mallard tracking program showing locations of birds released with a tracking device last year. Waterfowl enthusiasts can follow these birds as they migrate to Mississippi. After the birds are in the state, their location can be isolated on the map.
