n Parents for Public Schools, Inc. is accepting applications for the Parent Leadership Institute to be held in Tupelo this fall.
The PLI is designed to help parents from Northeast Mississippi to become more involved in helping public schools enhance academic achievement for all students. Participants will be trained in leadership and communications skills and to understand achievement data and Mississippi’s public education system. Training will enable them to work more effectively with other parents in their communities to address school improvement by designing and completing a project in their school or district.
Applicants selected for the PLI will attend three two-day training sessions Sept. 18-19, Oct. 16-17, and Nov. 13-14. The institute is free; all expenses including lodging, meals and materials will be provided.
