Teenage girls sought
for Success Skills course
n TUPELO – Teenage girls are invited to participate in the second Teen Success Skills Class on March 28. The course, to be from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Renasant Center for Ideas in downtown Tupelo, will include sessions in goal setting, health awareness, balancing your whole self and maximizing your potential.
Early registration is recommended. If needed, sponsorships are available for the $25 cost, which includes a light breakfast and lunch. Participants will be required to sign a commitment form, and all parents/legal guardians also must sign their permission.
Teen Success Skills is organized by Tess Mason, a graduate of the Success Skills course sponsored by New Expectations for Women in Mississippi, a special project of the CREATE Foundation.

Mike Huckabee to be part
of Insurance Day in April
n STARKVILLE – Former Arkansas governor and U.S. presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee will be among the featured speakers for Mississippi State’s 22nd annual Mississippi Insurance Day.
Taking place April 22-23, the program of assemblies and continuing education sessions is sponsored by the university’s Peter K. Lutken Chair of Insurance. The College of Business’ risk management, insurance and financial planning academic program is co-sponsor.
Also speaking this year will be MSU President Mark Keenum, Mississippi Insurance Commissioner Mike Chaney and his predecessor, George Dale.

Crow’s Neck offers camp
to poster contest winners
n BOONEVILLE – For the third year, winners of the Crow’s Neck Environmental Education Center poster contest will receive more than just a ribbon. All first-place winners also will win a free session of day camp in June at Crow’s Neck, center executive director Cynthia Harrell said.
The poster contest, the theme of which is “I Love Camp,” is open to K-8 students. There will be one winner per age group, and all entries must be received by April 22. Winners announced no later than May 1.

Field trips on Mississippi River free to students
n VICKSBURG – Mississippi students in grades 3-12 are being offered free Mississippi and Yazoo River field trips through the end of the 2008-2009 school year.
Field trips departing from Vicksburg aboard the Sweet Olive tour boat owned by Mississippi River Tours, LLC, have been funded by the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality with the goal of teaching Mississippi children the importance of keeping their air, water and land clean and free of pollution.
